parables and proverbs from Liberia....

Liberian Parables are short stories and saying which are Usually meant to teach a lesson, or to give an advice. frequently, the selfish person learned that lesson the hard way.

The child who says his mother will not sleep will not sleep also .

A wise man does not find the depth of a river with both feet at the same time .

When a crazy man runs away with your clothes while you are in the bath room, don't follow him.

A child who washes his hands clean eats with elders.

A bird and a fish can get marry but where will they build their nest?

You should never play in the river and tease the alligator.

Here is another song from Liberian traditional songbird Tokay Tomah,this was a hit back home in Liberia, the song is Chay Chay Polay which in Liberian Vernacular simply means someone who gossips.

Liberia. A brief video history.......

Here is a brief video history of Liberia, i found very interesting. from its humble birth as a nation to the present day.
Liberia was relatively calm until 1980 when William Tolbert was overthrown by Sergeant Samuel Doe after rice riots. Liberia Africa's oldest republic, became better known in the 90s for its brutal and, ruinous civil war and its role in a rebellion in neighbouring Sierra Leone.



Today Liberia is trying to forget its recent past, and focus on nation rebuilding.
